Hello and Happy Thanksgiving.
In the last few weeks, I have been lucky enough to have visited with some old friends and to have met new ones. I have been able to spend time in nature. And, I have family coming into town for Thanksgiving. These are some big things I am grateful for.
What are some big things in your life that you appreciate? How about small things? What else?
In our modern world, it’s easy to go into overdrive, especially during the holiday season. Then anxiety ensues and we can become out of sorts. We move at such a fast pace that we become forgetful or don’t pay attention. We can find ourselves moving mindlessly from one thing to the next.
Wouldn’t it feel so much better to move through the world in balance and ease? Easier said than done, right? Good news! We have tools at our disposal—meditation and other wellness practices— but we must carve out the time to do them.
Being mindful of things we are grateful for is a simple practice that helps us stay grounded. One way to explore gratitude is to remember to look for the good and bring your attention to that. It’s always there.
Nature is a great source of abundance. None of us would be alive without it. Nature provides the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the energy and resources we consume. All of it.
We will always experience difficult events and emotions. We all have responsibilities to attend to. Rushing and perpetuating patterns will keep us entrenched in the same habits. Slowing down, creating space to contemplate what’s next, and appreciating the good around us will help us call upon the ease we need in challenging moments.
Take care, and have a good and safe weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am grateful for each of you, the time and attention you give this newsletter, and the responses you send.
