Hello there.
What a difference a week makes. Life-changing news can, and does, come in an instant. Political news from the last two weekends affects all of us. Sometimes we get news that affects us on a more personal level.
Depending on the news and your emotional response, we can feel thrown off, destabilized, upset, excited, overwhelmed, anxious, invigorated, or any combination of emotions. A consistent meditation practice helps us stay centered.
You are so much more than the sum of your daily demands. You deserve to have a life filled with happiness and inner calm. But it can be hard to get there. Meditation helps.
There are different styles of meditation. We can match various formats to desired outcomes. For example, we have meditations to help us focus, contemplate, or connect. When I want to quiet my own mind (always it seems), I turn to Vedic Meditation, the foundation of my meditation teacher training.
Vedic Meditation is an easy-to-do technique that de-excites the mind and facilitates the release of stress and fatigue. The mind drops from the active thinking layer to a space of quiet and serenity. The body experiences a deeply satisfying rest.
This form of meditation is to be done twice a day, 20 minutes for each sitting. I know, it’s a lot—but it works. If you are curious about this technique, it is important to have a teacher to get you started. Let me know if you want to learn more. Send me an email or leave a comment below.
