We have reached the summer solstice — a bright light and a turning point in the center of the year. The solstice moment matters. It’s a time to pause and feel the abundance of the light around you. Immerse yourself in it. Soak it in. The year will march on and the days will darken. Enjoy this time while it is upon us. Celebrate it, and then reflect on the best use of your time going forward.
Your time is precious.
How do you respect your time? What are you allowing that might not be supporting you? Who or what are you allowing to waste your time? What do you need to deprioritize to make the most of the rest of the year? How can you refocus? Is there something you can let go of? Something to add in? What do you want to accomplish and how will you get there?
It’s a lot, I know, but these are the big important questions we should be asking ourselves. Write your answers down. Refer to them often. If you want accountability, leave them in the comments below. Adjust and refine when you need to, always with kindness and grace toward yourself.
We don't have to make big, sweeping changes. You can start small. This morning, I received an unexpected text message from an old friend. I’m sure that the positive impact it had on me was much greater than the time it took her to write it, or even than she intended. It inspired me to resolve that the next time I find myself scrolling through strangers’ posts on social media, I will instead reach out to a loved one, or send a note to a friend, simply to say “Hello. I was thinking about you.” Small interactions like these are meaningful, and if you ask me, the world needs more of them. Also, have you noticed that these small acts of noticing tend to reach us when we most need them? That’s how it felt for me today.
This week our meditation involves setting intentions. As you visualize your intentions coming to life, notice who and what is present and what is absent. Reclaim your time!
