The American people have spoken. Maybe the election outcome went the way you wanted, maybe it didn’t. And here we are. Sometimes in life, we get what we think we want, and sometimes we face circumstances we would never choose. It’s what we do next that matters.
Things happen in ways that we don’t always understand. We tend to live in the moment as the world operates on a much grander scale. All we have to do is look at history to see that things shift in cycles and that permanence is an illusion.
As we move forward together we owe each other grace for our differences. We are, after all, more alike than we are different. We all want to feel safe and loved.
What an unusual time we are living in. The last few months have been heavily divisive. We can all do better by taking ownership of our words and actions. I am grateful this week and always, to be among this community of people who want better, and who meet the world just as it is.
Stay true to yourself, but as you do be soft, be kind, listen, don’t judge, stay open, and be honest with yourself. At the same time, be firm in your conviction, and take action.
This week’s meditation is inspired by Roshi Joan Halifax and is a favorite around here.
Sending you my best today and every day.
