Hello there.
The annual World Happiness Report was released this week. It’s an international well-being index of 143 countries and territories. The self-reported happiness data is analyzed by a global team led by the University of Oxford. For the first time, the United States fell out of the top twenty happiest nations.
The report cites rising unhappiness among those under thirty as the main reason for the drop. A few factors were reported to play a role, including polarization among social issues, income inequality, and negative impacts of social media. The solutions to these issues are beyond the scope of this post, but it follows that if we each improve our own well-being, we can make more meaningful progress toward ameliorating these issues.
When times are as difficult as these, it is more important than ever to have a set of resources that help you feel better when you are out of sorts. Maybe you have been affected by the many distressing items in the news, or perhaps you have had a rough time personally. We all have those days when we need to regroup.
People have all sorts of strategies to restore their balance. Exercise can be helpful, as can spending time with friends, or being in nature. A good night’s sleep will always help you navigate life’s inevitable challenges. It will come as no surprise that I find meditation to be a big help also.
Below is a meditation I like to do when I want to reset. It’s one to help you deeply rest, restore, and ground yourself. Even if you are feeling fine, this meditation will help keep the goodness rolling along.
Restorative Grounding Meditation
Please leave a comment below on the type of meditation you would find helpful and I will try to include it in a future post. Need help with sleep? Stress relief? A more active meditation? Something else? Please let me know!
Have a nice weekend. See you back here soon.
