Hello,

Life moves quickly these days. The back-to-school season is busy, even if you're not in school. The pace of life tends to accelerate. I see my schedule getting busier as summer ends. With this change in seasons, it’s easy to become frazzled and out of balance. I'm doing everything I can to stay centered. Meditation helps.

There are several ways to use meditation to improve our lives. We can use meditation to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves. We can observe patterns that we have built up and use this information to make positive changes. A very simple meditation, where we spend time simply observing our thoughts, can help us build up a sense of equanimity. This, combined with a gentle kindness toward ourselves, will benefit us greatly.

Equanimity is an essential life skill. When we strengthen our ability to stay grounded in any situation, it’s easier to navigate the ups and downs that life brings. When we practice cultivating curiosity during meditation, we’re preparing for moments when life feels overwhelming. We don’t get to choose what happens to us, but we can choose how we exist when things happen. This week’s meditation will help with that. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
