This is the fifth annual gift guide — a few treasures with the theme of small pleasures for you this holiday season. No matter what you’re celebrating, it’s always a good time to show someone (or treat yourself!) that you’re thinking of them. Below are some of my favorite gifts to give this year.
Happy gifting!!
East Fork Pottery, Asheville North Carolina
Coffee in a special mug is a solid way to start your day. This one checks all the boxes.
My daughter and I stumbled onto this special pottery on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina a few years ago. The colors are gorgeous. Stick with your favorite or collect them and make a rainbow.
For the holidays, I am partial to Henri's Red, named after Henri Matisse, who is the great-grandfather of one of the founders. Reminiscent of poppies in bloom, an overripe red Anjou pear, a lost ruby earring, the glow of inspiration.
Oh, I almost forgot. Here is a link for $20 off your first purchase! Yay!
Cashmere Socks
Growing up, my dad always wore cashmere socks, even in the summer. It was his simple pleasure. If you have taken yoga classes with me you have heard me talk about how important it is to take care of your feet. They are our foundation. These are the ultimate simple luxury and would make a cozy, thoughtful gift.
WASHI Paper Incense Strips
Last year the gift guide featured the gorgeous HA KO leaf Incense Strips. This year, also from HA KO, a new type of paper incense combining well wishes with rich aromas. Each box contains 30 strips of incense along with a metal clip to hold the incense as it burns. The notes say things like “Have a lovely day” and “Sweet dreams!”. What a nice way to enjoy a 5-minute break in your day. There are lots of ways to use these. Bookmarks. Slip in a greeting card. What else can you think of? These would make great stocking stuffers.
Kate McLeod Winter Citrus Body Stone Duo | Holiday Limited Edition
Talk about a self-care moment. The act of rubbing these on your skin is a wonderful ritual. This exquisite set of limited-edition moisturizing body bars leaves skin soft and beautifully nourished. Made with rich botanical butters and flower extracts, each bar starts off as a solid and melts into your skin. No waste or plastic packaging. And they smell divine. If you prefer, they do offer an unscented version. And a few others that you can check out on the site.
Orange Spice is a grounding, slightly spicy orange-vanilla-cinnamon blend, while Lemon Drop is bright with zesty lemon mixed with vanilla and warming cognac.
An incredible gift. The way it is packaged, you could buy one and keep one. Just saying. Twenty percent off here.
Bananagrams: Multi-Award-Winning Word Game
My college roommates are some of the best people I know. We took a trip recently and someone brought Bananagrams. What a blast! Building memories with loved ones is the best. This small game packs a big punch and is great to have around. They have all sorts of editions now. This is the original.
Tibetan Tingsha Cymbal Bells in a Handmade Pouch
Buddhist monks and nuns have long used bells in meditation practice. The ring of small Tibetan Tingsha cymbals is believed to clear and focus the mind, promoting a sense of peace and calmness for long meditation practice. It’s also believed that the sound of meditation bells wards off negative energies. Use these 3” bells to mark the beginning and end of meditation, add ritual and ceremony to your practice, create an atmosphere of purity, and to help keep the mind centered.
Nidra Deep Rest Eye Mask
Most of us are probably behind on sleep. The contoured Nidra Deep Rest Eye Mask snugly fits over eyelids to effectively block out light, helping you get better rest. I consider myself somewhat of a sleeping mask aficionado and this one is good! It has eye cups so the mask isn’t smushed up against your eyes. Also offered in a small size for sleep-deprived kids, teens, and smaller adults.
Alo Yoga 7/8 Leggings
This list needs some gear to get you moving. It’s fun to have new workout clothes. It helps you stay motivated and when we move our bodies, we feel better, right?
The iconic 7/8 leggings from Alo Yoga are one of the first pairs I reach for and there is a color for every mood. Here is 15% off your first purchase.
Bookshop—Recommended Reading
I love to read. When I was a kid, we had the complete set of the World Book Encyclopedia. One of my favorite things to do was to sit on the floor below the bookshelf and read it. It was organized by letter. Weird, right? I also read the original Emily Post book of etiquette cover to cover. I can tell you which fork to use for sure.
You can learn so much from books. Seeing the world through the eyes of another continues to fascinate me. I have a Bookshop Virtual Storefront with recommendations in a few categories including Best Books on Meditation. But check out this list: Recommended Reading. Narrowing these books down is a work in progress. Keep checking back, as I update each time I find a new gem.
BIRD BUDDY® Original Smart Bird Feeder with Solar-Powered Camera
Spending time in nature is healing. If you can’t get outside, this is the next best thing. These are like a ring doorbell for your birdfeeders. Put them in a yard and see who visits. I have a friend who has had birds, a raccoon, squirrels, and even a bear visit! You can view the interaction from anywhere. So much fun!
